SOBRE LAS AUTORAS:

Mary Ann Shaffer (1934-2008) nació en la localidad norteamericana de Martinsburg (Virginia Occidental). Trabajó como editora, bibliotecaria y librera. Su interés por Guernsey surgió tras una visita a Londres en 1976. En un arrebato, decidió volar hasta la isla, donde quedó atrapada por una espesa niebla que impidió que aviones o barcos pudieran salir. Durante la espera encontró un volumen titulado Jersey Under the Jack- Book, y así empezó su fascinación por las islas del Canal. La Sociedad Literaria del Pastel de Piel de Patata de Guernsey, su primera y única novela, vio la luz poco después de su fallecimiento. Su sobrina Annie Barrows, que la ayudó a terminar el libro, es autora de la serie juvenil Ivy and Bean y de The Magic Half. Vive en California.
