An excited girl waits for her father, a Dominican gangster whom she idolizes and who always arrives without warning, like monsters in horror movies. Daddy appears, disappears and reappears, loaded with dollars and endless cars, girlfriends and gifts. He embodies, as the critic Juan Duchesne Winter has pointed out, the "global neomachus" and triumphant of the tropics, who causes hallucinations in everyone around him: "The problem is that daddy, like the Messiah, always appears but never arrives. "This is how the intimate failure of a Dominican passion is fulfilled, the breach of all passion of waiting, narrated in a prose that inoculates the rhythm in the techno pulse, which injects the bachata into the sonata."
