LOS DESAFÍOS INVISIBLES DE SER MADRE O PADRE

The purpose of this work is to contribute to reflection on what it entails to be an adequate parent and, simultaneously, to offer professionals a tool for assessing the degree of adequacy required to ensure the healthy development of children. Being a parent is one of the most important and complex human endeavors. The capacity to perform this role well is determined, to a large extent, by parental competencies — qualities that are profoundly influenced by the adults' personal histories, particularly by how they themselves were treated during their own childhoods. Attachment, empathy, and respectful treatment are fundamental skills for being a "good enough" parent.
