Legends of the Fall is made up of three short novels that revolve around the insatiable triad of desire, revenge and wildness. In the first of them, Revenge, a man falls in love with the wife of a friend who brutally leads a Mexican cartel. Between verses and exchanges of quotes from Lorca and other poets of the generation of '27, the man and the woman begin a relationship that is perhaps illicit, perhaps stupid and in any case very dangerous. Harrison's narrative mastery makes this story of desire, border, desert, brothels, daggers, books, mezcal and heroin an absolutely addictive story.
