A waiter whose father was murdered by a paramilitary squad at the time of Fujimori's all-out war against the Shining Path; a cook who has a relationship with another woman and discovers a secret; a police commander haunted by his past and a present marked by crime and corruption; a Catalan priest whose mentor accumulated more than just suspicions of pedophilia; a Colombian who flees violence and opens a hair salon; a kidnapped... and a neurotic writer with a pornography addiction, who spies on his neighbor's boy and dreams of writing the great Peruvian novel, of which he barely has the title: The Loyalty of the Cannibals.
