Dr. Mukwege, in his book -part autobiography and part a call against sexual violence in times of peace and war- highlights the role of the extraordinary women who shaped and inspired him. The book also denounces the rapes and sexual violence suffered by women in places like the United States, Europe and Asia, emphasizing the mistreatment women face in all corners of the world. Finally, Dr. Mukwege appeals to men, guiding and encouraging them to become allies in the fight against sexual abuse. Through his personal example and his ideas, he hopes to inspire a new form of 'positive masculinity': a change in men's behavior and attitude that contributes to building more inclusive and gender-equal societies.
