Written in the 60's, the author was unable to publish this captiving novel, believing himself to be a frustrated writer he committed suicide in 1969 at the age of 32. His mother tirelessly continued to try and get it published, which she finally succeeded in 1980. Set in New Orleans, this book follows Ignatius Reilly as he is "catapulted into the frenzy of contemporary existence". Awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1981.
