Frankenstein (Selector)

In this work, archetypal because of how easy it is to identify with some of her characters, Mary Shelley tells the story of a man who challenges Nature trying to avoid death. His transgression costs him dearly, because death constantly haunts his family and, even, himself. The monster that Dr. Frankenstein creates is not bad or violent, but the lack of love (the thesis of romanticism as a literary current) causes his destructive behavior. / En esta obra, arquetípica por lo fácil que resulta identificarse con algunos de sus personajes, Mary Shelley narra la historia de un hombre que desafía a la Naturaleza intentando evitar la muerte. Su trasgresión le cuesta cara, pues la muerte acecha constantemente a su familia e, incluso, a él mismo. El monstruo que el doctor Frankenstein crea no es malo ni violento, sino que la falta de amor (tesis del romanticismo como corriente literaria) ocasiona su comportamiento destructivo.
