El fin

This short storybook is named after one of the stories contained within about a mother who tells her son a story that strikes him as a hint of her getting older. While on a phone call with him, she says: “This is the end." This book is about the feeling of being at one's limit. / En el cuento que da título a este nuevo volumen de relatos de Soledad Puértolas, una madre, tras contarle por teléfono a su hijo un incidente que le hace entrever la ancianidad, le dice: «Esto es el fin.» Esta sensación de estar al borde de un acabamiento, de algo que se trunca, que deja de existir, está muy presente en estos relatos, una sensación que sin duda responden al espíritu de los tiempos.
