Emilio Renzi has arrived at the campus of a prestigious university in New Jersey to teach a course on the Argentinian years of W. H. Hudson. He has been invited by the director of the department, the beautiful and feisty Ida Brown. A series of small incidents and strange mistakes culminate in the tragic death of Professor Brown in anunexplained accident. But there is a strange detail: Ida’s hand is burnt and this fact seems to connect her to a series of terrorist attacks against leading figures in the academic world.
