In the mid-eighteenth century, Alister Cox, the most prestigious watchmaker in Europe, arrives on the shores of China invited by the all-powerful Emperor Quiánlóng, who wants to make him some very special watches. As the artisan shapes his precise machinery, he begins to realize that he is like a prisoner.
