ALGO QUEDARÁ DE MÍ

This is the story of ten women who chose the side of freedom and justice during the era of the Third Reich. They came from diverse European countries and held varying political affiliations, social backgrounds, creeds, and convictions. Yet they were courageous; they loathed tyranny and were undeterred in defending the freedom and dignity of their respective peoples — who were subjected to the atrocities of a murderous ideology, Nazism — even in the face of deportation, torture, and death. Five of them would perish, while the other five survived, dedicating the rest of their lives to bearing witness and keeping memory alive through — as the resistance fighter Germaine Tillion put it — "the power of words." A sinister place brought them together: between 1939 and the liberation in 1945, the SS established the Third Reich’s largest concentration camp for women in the German town of Ravensbrück. Five of these heroines belonged to the French Resistance: ethnologist Germaine Tillion, playwright Charlotte Delbo, the young aristocrat Anne de Bauffremont-Courtenay, International Brigades volunteer Lise London, and Geneviève de Gaulle — a student and the niece of the Free France leader. Joining them were Margarete Buber-Neumann, a German woman who witnessed both Nazi and Soviet concentration camps of that era; Milena Jesenská, a Czech journalist and loyal friend of Kafka; Marie Skobtsova, a Russian nun, French Resistance member, and Orthodox saint; British spy Violette Szabo; and Polish poet Grażyna Chrostowska, who was vilely executed at the age of just twenty-one.
